Developmental Editing
Developmental editing focuses on the big picture of the story. It provides an in-depth analysis in order to:
- Examine the structure of the story
- Look for plot holes
- Evaluate and assist with world-building
- Check the style and content continuity
- Provide feedback on characters, setting, and dialogue in order to help improve the overall quality of the story
Turnaround time: 7 to 8 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript.
Full Developmental and Full Line Editing Package
This package includes full developmental editing and full line editing services. There are two full rounds of editing in this package. The first will be developmental edits along with some light line edits throughout. Once the author has finished their revisions, they resubmit for a line edit.
Turnaround time: 8-12 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript and the extent of necessary edits.
Line Editing
Line editing is pretty much what you would expect from the title. It is a more intensive structural edit to assess and address:
- Tone and voice of the manuscript
- Rearrange sections/paragraphs for cohesiveness and ease of readability
- Look for and delete any repetitive sections
- Make suggestions about sections that may need more editing or revision by the author
Turnaround time: 5 to 6 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript.
Full Line Editing and Full Copy Editing Package
This is a package consisting of full line and copy editing services. The details for each are listed in their individual sections.
Turnaround time: 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript.
Copy Editing
Copy editing should be done once your manuscript is mostly complete. Consider it a final edit before it is sent to your publisher. Copy editing services include 2-3 editing passes, examining the manuscript for:
- Clarity
- Continuity
- Inconsistencies
- Word usage and repetitiveness
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
Turnaround time: 4 to 5 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript.

Final Proofreading
Proofreading should be done right before your manuscript is about to be printed. Services include two to three editing passes of the final draft of the manuscript looking for minor issues missed in previous edits, such as:
- Basic errors in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc.
- Inconsistencies
- Continuity and flow
Turnaround time: 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript.
Light Copy Edit plus Final Proofreading
Light copy editing plus proofreading provides notes about issues or suggestions I may have regarding clarity, word usage, and repetitiveness, as well as some minor changes to those issues, in addition to basic proofreading services. This is a service that is best suited for those manuscripts that are well-polished, only needing minor fixes and proofreading, and are nearly ready to be printed.
Turnaround time: 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the length of the manuscript.
